Tacit subject: what it is and 100 sample sentences

He tacit subject It is that subject that exists despite the fact that it is not mentioned in the sentence. Although the pronoun is not there, it can be deduced from the verb conjugation. For example, «we went to the game on Saturday» is a sentence with a tacit subject («we» is omitted).

Sentences with a tacit subject tell the action that takes place but do not illustrate the subject or the pronoun that identifies it. A sentence with an unspoken subject will never mention the subject within the sentence.

Omitting the subject in sentences responds to many aspects, among them it may be the metric in poetic versification, or that for aesthetic tastes of the author he considers that it is not necessary to place the name or pronoun in the statement because it is understood.

In the same sentence there can be two or more tacit subjects, and the actions that occur in the context allow them to be identified. This phenomenon is also called “elliptical subject” or “omitted”.
