An experiment was carried out over 12 weeks with 60 volunteers, finding that participants who consumed two Brazil nuts a day had much higher levels of selenium than those who consumed a 100 microgram supplement or took a placebo.

3- Risk of diabetes and heart disease

Several studies have shown an association of high selenium levels in the blood and increased risk of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and risk of heart disease.
